McClain - Ethel Thomas

ROCKVILLE - Mrs. Ethel T. McClain, 78, who resided at 311 W. Ohio St., died at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Simpson, in Terre Haute. Born in Parke County Dec. 20, 1889 she was a daughter of Oliver and Sarah Owens Thomas. She married Bert McClain May 16, 1909. Mr. McClain died in 1915. A 1907 graduate of State Normal. Mrs. McClain began teaching in 1908. She retired in 1955. She was a member of Rockville Christian Church and Indiana Retired Teachers Association. Surviving besides her daughter are three sisters, Mrs. Edith Ratcliff and Mrs. Kittie Martin of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Mary Call of Clinton, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Roger T. Rankin officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Moriah Cemetery near Hollandsburg. Friends may pay respects after 2 p.m. Frday at the funeral home. - jlr
